Depth I (c. 2023) is the beginning of a series exploring human textures and minimal colour in monochrome portraiture. Moniere bears an emblem of Jamaica, the home of his birth, yet he spent much of his formative years abroad. The discovery of these exceptional human beings, and getting to photograph them in such an intimate way, is the basis for this project. Stripping them down, seeing them for who they are.
